Regular Dental Cleanings (Prophylaxis)

Regular dental cleanings and examinations are the cornerstone of maintaining a healthy smile for life. At Brush Dentistry in Lawrenceville, we recommend professional cleanings and comprehensive examinations every six months to prevent problems before they start, detect issues early when they're easiest to treat, and keep your teeth and gums in optimal condition. Our thorough preventive care approach helps you avoid costly procedures down the road while ensuring your smile stays beautiful and functional.

Scaling & Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)

Scaling and root planing (SRP), commonly called deep cleaning, is a non-surgical periodontal treatment used to treat gum disease (periodontitis). Unlike a regular prophylaxis cleaning that addresses teeth above the gum line, deep cleaning goes beneath the gums to remove bacteria, plaque, and tartar from the root surfaces of your teeth. At Brush Dentistry in Lawrenceville, we use advanced techniques and gentle approaches to make deep cleaning as comfortable as possible while effectively treating periodontal disease and preventing tooth loss.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal maintenance is a specialized type of cleaning performed on patients who have completed treatment for gum disease (periodontitis). Once you've undergone scaling and root planing or other periodontal therapy, you can't simply return to regular six-month cleanings - you need more frequent, specialized maintenance to keep gum disease from returning. At Brush Dentistry in Lawrenceville, our periodontal maintenance program helps you maintain the gum health improvements we've worked together to achieve.

Gingivitis Treatment

Gingivitis is the earliest stage of gum disease, characterized by inflammation of the gums caused by plaque buildup along and under the gum line. The good news is that gingivitis is completely reversible with proper treatment and improved home care. At Brush Dentistry in Lawrenceville, we can help you reverse gingivitis before it progresses to periodontitis (advanced gum disease), which causes irreversible damage to the bone and tissues supporting your teeth.

Full Mouth Debridement (D4355)

Full mouth debridement (dental code D4355) is a preliminary procedure performed when there's such heavy accumulation of plaque, tartar, and debris on your teeth that we cannot perform a comprehensive oral examination or accurate diagnosis. This typically occurs in patients who haven't been to the dentist in many years, have severe plaque and tartar buildup covering tooth surfaces, or have significant deposits preventing us from seeing tooth structure, gum tissue, or detecting cavities and gum disease. At Brush Dentistry in Lawrenceville, we perform full mouth debridement to remove these gross deposits, allowing us to properly examine your oral health and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Scaling in Presence of Inflammation (D4346)

Scaling in the presence of moderate or severe gingival inflammation (dental code D4346) is a therapeutic cleaning procedure performed when you have significant gum inflammation but may not yet have full-blown periodontal disease with bone loss. This procedure falls between a regular prophylaxis cleaning and full scaling and root planing (deep cleaning). At Brush Dentistry in Lawrenceville, we use this treatment approach for patients who have developed moderate to severe inflammation, bleeding, and early pocket formation but haven't yet experienced significant bone loss.
